Hi! My name is Saanvi Gupte and I’m originally from Chicago, Illinois. I’m 18 years old and a freshman in college, currently going to school in North Carolina. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in June 2020.

How did you learn about Girls With Guts?

I found out about Girls With Guts through Instagram. When I was first diagnosed with UC, I searched up all the accounts affiliated with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and Girls With Guts was one of them!

Why did you decide to volunteer with Girls With Guts?

Getting diagnosed with UC felt very intimidating. I decided to volunteer with Girls With Guts in an effort to connect with others who have IBD. Volunteering  was also a way for me to give back to the IBD community, and hopefully help out the next person navigating through their new diagnosis.

When you are not volunteering with Girls With Guts what do you do with your time?

Outside of Girls With Guts, I am also a member of the National Council of College Leaders for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Additionally, I volunteer with The Asian Americans with Disabilities Initiative. During my free time, you will find me hanging out with my dog or cooking up new recipes in the kitchen!
