I learned about Girls With Guts when I went on an exploration to find someone who “gets it.” I didn’t feel like I fit in anywhere particularly and when I was searching and using hashtags on Instagram I found GWG. I immediately felt drawn to GWG and felt like I finally found my tribe!
I decided to volunteer with GWG because I’ve been the odd woman out for far too long, and if I can help one person (although I hope to help many) to not feel that isolation, associated with our illnesses that affect our bowels and butts, then I am doing something right! I also want to help end the stigma surrounding these typically taboo subjects. We shouldn’t be embarrassed to talk about what we are going through, and I want to use my voice and my story to help others feel comfortable sharing.
When I’m not volunteering you can find me spending time with my husband and our 3 kids! We love traveling and our favorite vacation spot is Myrtle Beach. Not too far behind me will be my corgi Odin (he’s my ride or die), and my 2 cats: Toby and Arlo. I love animals and enjoy spending my free time getting close to them and have gotten to quite a few animal encounters. I’ve held a baby tiger, fed a giraffe, and gave capybaras belly rubs. My favorite hobby is reading. I love psychological thrillers.
