Hi Everyone! I’m Katie. I live in Raleigh North Carolina and work at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences as the Head of Guest Services. I have an amazing husband, two fantastic kids (Allie and Vince), and a sweet fur baby named Hudson.

How did you learn about Girls With Guts?

In early 2018 I was realizing my colon was not winning the lastest UC flare and, surgery might be on the table. A classmate of one of our close friends reached out and told me about Girls with Guts. I had been looking for a support group that was positive, and was thrilled to become a part of this amazing community.

Why did you decide to volunteer with Girls With Guts?

I had two amazing women who are not part of GWG help guide me through my surgeries and answered all of my questions about life without a colon. I wanted to continue their support and kindness and help others.

When you are not volunteering with Girls With Guts what do you do with your time?

I am the Head of Guest Services at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, so I’m helping guests navigate the museum and downtown Raleigh. Both of my kids are active in their dance company, play softball and baseball, and are on the swim team. I love hanging out at the pool, hiking, or spending time at the beach.
