How did you learn about Girls With Guts?
Shortly after being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in late 2017, I was searching online for resources about how to manage my IBD, especially as a college student. Between Googling and intensely searching Facebook, I found Girls With Guts. After finding their Facebook Group, I was captivated. In November of 2022, I was re-diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. This was a particularly difficult time as I had just managed living with UC. It felt like I was starting completely over. Girls with Guts helped normalize this new diagnosis into something that I should not be afraid of.
Why did you decide to volunteer with Girls With Guts?
I decided to volunteer because I wanted to give back to other IBD Warriors and help them realize that having IBD does not make us weak, it just makes us stronger.
When you are not volunteering with Girls With Guts what do you do with your time?
By day, I work in Human Resources. Although by night, I spend my time cuddling with my Bernedoodle Puppy (Flounder), attending concerts, and listening to True Crime podcasts.
