Hi everyone! My name is Catherine Liggett. I am from Denver, Colorado where I am also attending medical school at the University of Colorado. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in March of 2019.

How did you learn about Girls With Guts?

I saw Girls with Guts on social media shortly after being diagnosed. I was thrilled to find a community of other women going through a similar experience as myself.

Why did you decide to volunteer with Girls With Guts?

When I was first diagnosed with IBD, I felt incredibly isolated and ashamed of my diagnosis. I wanted to work with Girls with Guts to help empower other women who may feel this way about their condition and raise awareness within the general public regarding IBD and ostomies. Girls with Guts has allowed me to become much more confident with IBD, and my hope in volunteering is to do the same for others.

When you are not volunteering with Girls With Guts what do you do with your time?

Whenever I have free time, you can find me outside! I love to do any outdoor activity, but in particular, I enjoy trail running, hiking, skiing and climbing 14ers in Colorado. I also am a huge bookworm with my favorites being mysteries, thrillers and biographies/autobiographies.
