Raised in Bayonne, New Jersey. Krista was a competitive swimmer from the age of six and made the Junior Olympic Team at age 16 in the 100-meter butterfly. Her love of all things aquatic brought her to Orlando, Florida, where she worked at Sea World and Discovery Cove.
Diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2007, Krista had her colon removed and a J-Pouch was added in 2016. She was given a new diagnosis of Crohn’s disease and she now has had an ileostomy since 2017.
After her first surgery, Krista discovered Girls With Guts. It made a tremendous impact on her outlook, knowing she was not alone. She feels empowered to help others who do not have the expansive support system she has found with her family, friends and colleagues.
Krista is married, has two grown daughters and is also currently on the board of her local ostomy support group.
