How did you learn about Girls With Guts?

I came across Girls With Guts while completing my Master’s in Yoga Studies & Yoga Therapy. One of our major assignments was to design a yoga therapy program for a specific population; I created a four-week camp for adolescent girls with IBD. For the final presentation, we had to choose an organization to pitch our program to, which is how I first found GWG. After learning more, I joined the Strategic Planning Task Force—and that experience made me genuinely fall in love with the mission and the community.

Why did you decide to volunteer with Girls With Guts?

I am an IBD patient and former temporary ostomy wearer which is at the heart of my why. After spending most of my career in marketing and events, a particularly devastating flare redirected my life toward mindfulness, meditation, and yoga. This shift ultimately led me to pursue yoga therapy and deepen my work with nonprofits in the IBD community. Volunteering with Girls With Guts allows me to bring both sides of my background—creative strategy and therapeutic practice—together in service of turning pain into purpose and supporting others navigating similar journeys.

When you are not volunteering with Girls With Guts what do you do with your time?

My free time tends to mirror the things I teach—yoga on my mat, meditation in the quiet corners of the day, reading anything from philosophy to fiction, and letting myself daydream as a way of processing and creating. I also spend part of my year supporting Camp Oasis, where I lead yoga and meditation for kids living with IBD. Beyond that, I love the simple rituals of everyday life: playing with my dog, listening to music, and spending time with my family. And when all of that winds down, you’ll usually find me curled up with a book or just wandering the house in that contemplative, creative haze that feels like home to me.
